I write this for all the current members and those who are new or soon to join. Dragon Con 2009 is sadly now over. Thankfully there was a small contingent of us from the New York Temple in attendance. The con was an incredible weekend that I encourage one and all to experience. It was an anything goes and everything & everyone is accepted environment. It really is like our own little society where we make the rules independent of the outside world. For those 4 days all our islands became not just an archipelago, but a mainland. The mainland. Our mainland. Everyone was still doing there own thing but the level of overlap and of geek love made it all cohesive.

This was made even more so apparent with the manifestation of our basic motto; Jedi United. Over the course of 3 days, 2 performances, and one touching Sunday afternoon Jedi from across the country, SaberWars members or not, came together in likeness of mind and spirit. There was even some crossing of the "501st parallel". Scores of complete strangers gathered under the same mindset and expressed their interests in the growing community, their love of what it means to them, and humored a unknown guy in a skirt as he consumed well over an hour of their time.

This weekend I bared witness to a Jedi United from behind a camera lens. To all those who helped turn an idea into a moment; Thank you. I hope you find this community and my appreciation meet your desires. You are welcome to join and participate. To continue being Jedi United.

Hey everyone, you might remember me as Cyclops using the Force, but I signed on with my real Jedi character. I've been wanting to meet you guys for years actually, so Dragon Con was something of a culmination of that waiting time, and I still grin to myself when I remember how amazing the weekend was. You'll be seeing more of me, but probably not until I get a saber that can actually take some heavy dueling.

Now that we have that understanding, I can't thank you guys enough for setting the duelist inside me free!

I dueled with a young padawan with cool steampunk goggles and I must say the electricity of that basic battle is still flowing through me.

I find myself planning and training for next year already. Great stuff guys. Meeting you all in person really brought me to a new level of geek-fitness! You guys and gals are what it's all about NY Jedi. PLEASE post the videos from DragonCon soon! I can't wait!

All kidding aside, Dragon*Con was awesome! I have to say, hands down, Sunday was the best day for me and part of it was because of this epic photoshoot. The teaser photos look awesome ... I really hope you guys come again next year and have another exhibition. I had to leave halfway to go somewhere else. :\

Can't wait to see more photos and more of you wonderful NY Jedi folks!
